Workshop on Models of Care for Reducing Disparities in Maternal Health
Posted about 4 years ago
On behalf of NINR and the following NIH partners, NICHD, NIMHD, ORWH, and THRO, I would like to invite NAHN members that specialize in the areas related to maternal health to attend an upcoming workshop, “Workshop on Models of Care for Reducing Disparities in Maternal Health [ninr.nih.gov]”, which will be held as a virtual (online) meeting on September 29, 2020. There are 30 spots available and it would be wonderful to have NAHN members participate.
The purpose of the workshop is to understand the limited existing data on the impact of birth settings/providers on maternal health disparities and then identify promising areas for future research. The questions that guided the development of the agenda are:
What is the evidence that using midwives or doulas reduce maternal health disparities?
What factors appear to influence the effect of midwives or doulas?
What factors predispose to the success/failure of team care involving midwives, nurses, doulas, and/or physicians?
The workshop will be chaired by Drs. Haywood Brown and Melissa Cheyney, distinguished national leaders in this high-profile research area. Please feel free to share this with your chapter members. If you or any of your chapter members would like to be considered for one of the 30 VIP participants slots (with access to facilitating the discussion) please email Christine Gil info@thehispanicnurses.org or me director@thehispanicnurses.org by this Friday at 3 PM ET.
Thank you,
Cresta Archuletta
